Alert message sent 06/05/2022 14:57:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

We hope you are well.

Burbage update regarding crime in the area.

Attempt residential burglary at Sunnyhill South on the 3rd of May at around 21:00. The handle on the garage door was damaged but it does not appear entrance to the property was made. It appears the suspects ran off but we are asking if anyone in the area has any CCTV of this incident. Areas such as Forresters Road and Balliol Road would be of interest if you can check the above times for anything suspicious (persons or vehicles in the area). Crime number 22000251284

We have planned a crime prevention event for Tuesday the 31st of May from 10am until 4pm. This will be held at Burbage Millennium Hall. We will have lots of tables with crime prevention items, road safety, anti-social behaviour, drug education and much more. Please pop along if you can for a chat if you have any questions about concerns in Burbage or just to say hello.

Following a stop check by officers, a driver was arrested on Brookside on the 5th of May at around 20:30. Incident is under investigation so cannot give much more in detail.

We have also been completing patrols around areas such as Forresters Road, Grove Road, Farm Road, Holt Road, Brookside and all of the local parks.

Outdoor Gym area off Farm Road and Brookside/Rugby Road park patrols.

We recently had a bicycle stolen from a young boy outside a shop on Tilton Road. Following some CCTV work and an appeal, we have identified the person involved and the outcome is being dealt with.

Good news. We notified you last week of a set of keys being lost near Forrester Road, they have been found. Hurray.

Car window smashed on Featherston Drive (between Holt Road and Cowper Road junctions) on the 5th of May at around 21:00-21:35. If you have any information or CCTV of suspects running off, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk

We are working with Sketchley Primary School and will be holding a “park and stride” event on the 17th of May from Sketchley Grange hotel. With double yellow lines due to be put in around the Azalea Drive junction, we are looking at ways to reduce any impact of the vehicles causing further issues. The priority though is to ensure the immediate school area is as safe as possible. The school will be contacting parents but hopefully these initiatives will reduce the amount of vehicles around the school area and encourage walking to school where possible. Please join in and support us.

Thank you for your time and take care,

Darren 6035
