Alert message sent 05/05/2022 19:28:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Residents,

Just a short update this time of what’s been happening in Tipton,

Teamworx Project.
PCSO’s have started a 5-week activity course for 12 pupils from two of our local primary schools, 6 pupils from each school.
Over the next 5 weeks, pupils will have the opportunity to visit interesting locations & take part in team building & problem-solving activities.
Last week, the project kicked off with an induction get together & was followed up by a visit to the local fire station.
This week, session 2 was held at Tipton Sports Academy, where the pupils took part in Team Building & Problem Solving Exercises.
Over the course of the next 5 weeks, it is hoped that the pupils will grow in confidence & learn new skills, whilst having an extremely enjoyable time.

Litter Pick.
PCSO’s have arranged with Tipton Litter Watch a litter pick event on the Standbridge Estate grassed area, due to complaints from residents regarding rubbish/fly tipping. We will be there on Standbridge, Saturday 7th May 2022 between 10.00 am & 12.00 noon, refreshments are available, anyone wishing to help is welcome to come along.

Police Surgery.
PCSO’s are also holding a Police Surgery from 12.00 noon to 2.00pm at the Sons of Rest on Victoria Park, Victoria Road Tipton, & the local councillor has been invited. Please come along & have a chat with us.

Missing Person.
Tipton NHT Officers assisted with the search for an elderly female reported missing by her very concerned family. Our officers found the lady, who had fallen down a ditch on Sandwell Valley Park.  The team ensured her safety, contacted her husband and reunited them at hospital, where thankfully she was given the all clear.
Another vulnerable person reported missing was also found by Tipton NHT Officers safe and well.  We have linked in with other partner agencies to help ensure ongoing support is made available.

Tipton NHT Officers were deployed to the Sports Academy, Wednesbury Oak Road, following a spontaneous protest relating to vaccinations.  After liaising with the protesters, the protest went ahead peacefully without causing extensive disruption.

Polling Day.
Today, there was a requirement for officers to attend the Polling Stations during the elections. We visited all the local Polling Stations & can report that no issues were encountered.

Anti-Social Behaviour.
We continue to patrol all of our open spaces in an attempt to tackle the issues associated with off-road motorbikes and youth ASB. We have made our presence known by car, van, bicycle, and on foot, & will continue to do so throughout the summer months.

Arrests & other Offences.
A stolen motor cycle was recovered from the rear of Coronation Road within just hours of it being stolen. Enquiries continue towards identifying the offenders.
A male was arrested for a homophobic assault, arson and threats to kill.
A male was arrested for a no bail warrant, having failed to appear at court to face a charge of assault.
