Scam Call alert

Alert message sent 09/04/2022 14:13:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good Afternoon,

A resident on Avebury Road has reported that they received a scam phone call from someone purporting to be a Police Officer, telling them that they had a duplicate bank card. The resident did not pass over any details and will be contacting Action Fraud.

Please take a few minutes to read the advice on the following link, which advises how to avoid becoming a victim of identity fraud and identity theft:
https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/a-z-of-fraud/identity-fraud-and-identity-theft

If you are unsure whether someone calling from the Police is genuine, you can terminate the call and contact LiveChat or 101 to ask whether we are trying to contact you. A genuine officer or member of Police staff should not be offended by you doing this, especially as our numbers often show as private on your phone.
