Swinton Crime Updates

Good afternoon

Due to a recent increase in Burglaries & Shed breaks in the Swinton Ward, please be vigilant and any suspicious activity please report in an Emergency 999, or Non Emergency 101. You can also report online through the South Yorkshire Police Website by clicking on the Online portal.

Staff from Rotherham North Neighbourhood Team, are still continuing to visit locations in the Swinton Area, with FREE Smartwater property marking kits.

The Police are taking steps to prevent these offences, however we request that you help in this matter, and advise you of the following preventative measures:

Properties / Addresses.

1. Lock/Secure your door when you’re working outside and drop the latch on the door when you are
inside.
2. Set alarms.
3. Never leave windows open in unoccupied rooms.
4. If you have a side or garden gate, keep it locked.
5. Don’t leave valuables on open display e.g mobile phones, car keys (take to bed ) wallets, purses etc.

Sheds / Garages

Please keep these locked at all times when unaccompanied :-

1. Lock it. Lock your garage/shed up and while that is definitely what you
should do, it may not be enough. ... So ........
2. Double lock it. ...
3. Block it. ...
4. Alarm it. ...
5. Light it.
