Final verdict update

Alert message sent 05/11/2021 15:01:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Citizen,

Four teenagers, aged 14, 16 and two aged 18, have been found guilty of the brutal murder of 15-year-old Keon Lincoln just yards from his home in Linwood Road, Handsworth on 21 January.

A fifth 18-year-old defendant was found guilty of manslaughter.

We're well aware that these verdicts could generate tensions and anxieties among members of our community.

But we have been working with you, our partners, since Keon's death, to improve relationships and provide support and advice where needed.

And as the impact of the verdicts sinks in, we will be continuing that work.

Our schools liaison officers and local Neighbourhood Officers will be ensuring pupil welfare is maintained and support is available for those who have been affected, while there will also continue to be extra reassurance patrols around schools and public open spaces.

We will continue to work with partners from youth service providers and community forums to ensure that we maximise opportunities to refer youngsters who need additional support.

If you have concerns or need extra support during this time, please get in touch with your local policing team.
