Bonfire Night - Poole South

Alert message sent 03/11/2021 12:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

Fireworks are beautiful, but they can be dangerous if not handled properly.

They are explosives, and even sparklers can reach temperatures 15 times hotter than boiling water, and five times hotter than cooking oil. They are not toys and must be handled with the proper care. Please keep everyone’s safety in mind and behave appropriately.

The safest way to enjoy Bonfire Night is to attend a professionally organised event and display, but if you do choose to hold a display at home then be safe – remember to stand well back from bonfires and fireworks, never return to a lit firework and always wear gloves when handling sparklers.

The noise from fireworks can be distressing for animals and some vulnerable people. Be considerate and respectful of them when planning your bonfire night celebrations.

If you’re planning a display at home, then be safe – stand well back, never return to a lit firework and always wear gloves when handling sparklers. Let your neighbours know in advance so that they can take measures to protect pets or family members who are affected by the noise.
