Alert message sent 22/10/2021 14:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following Alert is being circulated on behalf of SGN

I’m writing to you to make you aware of our upcoming project to upgrade our gas network in Newton Mearns, Glasgow.

We’re looking to start work on Monday 25 October, and our project will last approximately ten weeks. Our project will be carried out by our contractor Worton Utilities on our behalf.

Whist most of our work will be carried out on the footpaths with give-and-take traffic management in place, there will be areas where more extensive traffic management measures are required. These are noted below:

Phase One: approx. 4 weeks

On Monday 25 October, we’ll be working in the following areas:

• Capelrig Road, between Fruin Avenue and Crookfur Road
• Machrie Drive
• Arisdale Crescent between Machrie Drive and Kilmory Drive

Phase Two: approx. 3 weeks
From Monday 8 November, we’ll be working in the following areas:

• Kilmory Drive
• Fruin Avenue, between Kilmory Drive and Ayr Road

Phase Three: approx. 4 weeks
From 29 November, we’ll be working in the following areas:

• Junction of Ayr Road and Crookfur Road. To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll install temporary three-way traffic lights at this junction
• Crookfur Road, between Ayr Road and Capelrig Road. Again, to ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll install temporary two-way traffic lights, increasing to three-way at each junction as we progress along Crookfur Road
• Junction of Capelrig Road and Crookfur Road, where we will install temporary four-way traffic lights to allow us to complete this section.

Phase Four: approx. 3 weeks
From Monday 2 January 2022, we’ll be working on Capelrig Road between Crookfur Road and School Road. During this phase we may have to install temporary two-way traffic lights as we progress along this section.

Please note, some phases may overlap for reinstatement purposes.

We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites, and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus
