Thefts of purses from medical surgeries

Alert message sent 21/10/2021 11:12:00

Information sent on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police

We have received two reports of thefts of purses from private areas of Doctors/medical surgeries in the East and Mid Devon area recently.
The staff members have then been contacted via the surgery asking to speak to the owner of the purse, purporting to be from the fraud department at their bank saying there had been fraud on the cards, they have then asked the staff for their pin numbers.
Please be wary of this, review security and inform staff.
Anyone with information is asked to phone 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime CR/091574/21.
Please phone 999 if any suspicious activity seen/you believe a crime is taking place.
Thank you.
