Alert message sent 07/10/2021 17:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Lancashire Constabulary

Today a prolific offender has been sentenced in Preston Crown Court after pleading guilty to numerous shopliftings, causing grievous bodily harm and several drug related offences.

Jordan Monks, 20, of no fixed abode committed a spree of shoplifting all across Hyndburn area between the 29th May 2021 and 8th August 2021. Monks has cared little for the shops and staff that he targeted repeatedly and when challenged by store staff has become aggressive and violent, on one occasion causing grievous bodily harm to a store assistant while attempting to flee.

Due to a collaborative and continues effort by Accrington Neighbourhood Policing Team and Accrington Immediate Response, Monks was sentenced to 31 months imprisonment. Now Monks has been taken off our streets, the town will be a much safer and more pleasant place for shoppers to visit and store staff to work.
