Cannabis Grows

Alert message sent 30/09/2021 07:49:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good Afternoon all
Last few weeks we have recovered substantial amounts of drugs from different addresses.
We are after any information you could give us regarding activity you believe is suspicious in regards to drugs.
Cannabis. This is a class B drug which has a tell-tale stench when nearby. We are clamping down on drug grows/dens and reducing the supply of the drug into communities. With your information we can obtain warrants from the courts. That gives us powers of entry to a private address and able to remove any drugs and paraphernalia with it.
So what is a cannabis grow? A cannabis grow is an address (Usually a rented property). With a greenhouse setup inside the house with heaters, fans and artificial lights that aid the growth of plants so they can be readily supplied onto the streets.
How to spot a cannabis grow;
- A heavy stench of cannabis (can make you feel nauseous).
- House might look unoccupied.
- Outside doors could have multiple locks.
- Cannabis needs to be in an atmosphere similar to a greenhouse. This would create a lot of condensation which you would see on the windows of a building.
- Foot traffic in and out of a specific house at all hours of the day.
- Windows kept shut all the time.
- No curtains open.
- Noise of fans or extraction systems running.
- Cannabis requires bright lights. So could be lights on all night.
- In the winter when there is snow fall. Usually grows are in the loft or upstairs, they give out a lot of heat energy so sometimes they are the only house in a street without snow.
