Commonwealth Games 2022 with the Policing Family

Alert message sent 24/09/2021 12:41:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

I’m Jim Carroll your Community Engagement Sergeant working on the planning for the Commonwealth Games arriving in the West Midlands next year.

Firstly I wanted to thank you all for your time & commitment over the last 18months during the COVID pandemic. It’s been a very challenging period & one that I hope you don’t have to face again.

Secondly, I wanted to make you aware of a tailored programme we’re developing aimed at Street Watch and Neighbourhood Watch Members to support the delivery of a safe, secure & welcoming Commonwealth Games in 2022.

The programme has YOU at its centre. It will consist of monthly, free online workshops & guest speakers to provide members awareness on the following subjects:
  • Counter Terrorism Awareness & Prevention
  • Information & Intelligence – how to report suspicious activity
  • Cyber Crime Awareness & Prevention
  • Doorstep Crime
  • Modern Day Slavery
  • Group led learning
There are three days & times detailed below. I’d recommend opening the links in Google Chrome. The meeting will be taking place on MS Teams & this link provides an introduction on how to use it & will help those that aren’t familiar with software, and I include myself in this group!
5th October at 1pm until 2pm - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/birmingham-2022-with-the-policing-family-tickets-177917484987

6th October 7pm until 8pm- https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/birmingham-2022-with-the-policing-family-tickets-177930022487

7th October 6pm until 7pm- https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/birmingham-2022-with-the-policing-family-tickets-177942991277

There are limited spaces for this input but we will happily add some further dates if required.

Birmingham 2022 is about the community, it’s people, its uniqueness & spirt!

As volunteers, you’re paramount to the success of the Games, whether that be as a warm & welcoming face to tourists, being a helpful guide or promoting the positive aspects of the West Midlands. We want to support you all to play your part in the Security Operation of the Games.

With you assisting the West Midlands Police & its partners but more so, having the passion to care for where you live, learn & love I know the Commonwealth Games will be huge success!

Kind regards

Sergeant PS 20363 James Carroll
