Alert message sent 14/06/2021 21:12:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Reporting intelligence to West Midlands Police

As active citizens, you offer valuable services to your communities, local partners and stakeholders including West Midlands Police. We know first-hand the challenges faced by active citizen volunteers when trying to share information about criminal activity with West Midlands Police.

That’s why West Midlands Neighbourhood Watch Force Area Association has been working with West Midlands Police to help establish a robust process that helps coordinator(s)/volunteer(s) to report intelligence directly to West Midlands Police.

Today we are releasing new guidance across the West Midlands allowing “Recognised/Approved” coordinator(s)/volunteer(s) to submit intelligence using the enclosed Partnerships Information Report WG403 FIB Form. We have also enclosed accompanying guidance documentation.

By being "Recognised/Approved" you agree to continue with the standards required to be recognised and you agree to abide by the ethical guidelines adopted from Neighbourhood Watch Network (NWN). If we come to know that a coordinator/volunteer or a neighbourhood watch scheme has breached the minimum standards expected, then at our discretion their “Recognition/Approved” status shall be revoked or suspended pending further investigation.

Get “Recognised/Approved” status

If as an active citizen coordinator/volunteer you and your scheme does not currently have “Recognised/Approved” status on WMNow/Neighbourhood Alerts, please contact us today on enquiries@wmacf.org.uk.

The document explaining the process for gaining "Recognition/Approval" status and the standards expected is attached. The most up to date version of the ethical guidelines can be found on  https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/knowledge/ethics-guidelines/.
