Melton Rural North- May Priority Update

Alert message sent 06/06/2021 14:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Residents

The Melton Rural North beat have gained a new Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer (DNO) PC Daniel Daley. Dan started his police career in 2017 as a PCSO in Melton working on the Town North Beat. He was successful in his application to become a Police Officer and started his training in June 2019. He has worked in the prisoner management team at Keyham Lane and has been a response officer in Melton for the last year. He is very much looking forward to working in the Vale and feels immensely proud to be policing the area he has grown up in.

This month has also seen the departure of 2 of our supervisors. Deputy Commander PS Lindsay Booth has taken up a new post following a promotion to Inspector, we wish her the best and hope that one day she will be able to return to Melton. Neighbourhood Sergeant Jamie Reeve has also taken up a new role at Head Quarters, we again wish him the best and thank him for his work and guidance at Melton. We are now in the process of a new era of transition with PS Dave Gott taking up post as Deputy Commander while PS Williams provides temporary cover as the Neighbourhood Sergeant while a permanent sergeant is waiting to take on the role.

Thank you for everyone’s contribution to completing our “Your Views Matter” surveys. These help set our priorities along with our incident and crime recording systems. Our Priorities are:

Priority 1 – Road Safety
Priority 2 – Rural Crime/ Farm Thefts
Priority 3 – Nuisance Off Roading

Priority 1
Following concerns raised by local residents we are in the process of organising patch walks in complaint locations including Croxton Kerrial and Harby. I am being supported by a colleague who is currently on restricted duties who is contacting partners and trying to organise a mutual date. Once a date is set I will communicate this to the areas concerned.

I have recorded the following activity for the month:
05/05 Harby weight restriction monitoring 17:00-17:30, one offence, travelled through weight restriction, Waltham Lane to Langer Trading Estate, no stopping in Harby. Advice given
10/05 Speed Monitoring Colston Lane 08:53-09:23, Harby, 3 speeding advisory letters
10/05 2 Weight Restriction advice letters sent for potential breach in Waltham
11/05 I was assisted by officers from the Neighbourhood Priority team(NPT) in enforcing the weight restriction around Waltham and Buckminster between 09:00 and 11:00. 2 agricultural vehicles stopped in Buckminster, advice given.
HGV stopped on Goadby Road and advice given.
1 tractor stopped in Scalford who was making a legitimate delivery in the weight restriction.

In the county of Leicestershire the majority of C and Unclassified roads have a maximum 7.5 Tonne weight restriction signified by a sign at each entrance to the zone. No vehicles above the weight restriction should enter the zone unless they are providing a service/delivery or have a premises in that zone. If an intended location is outside of the zone and there are other routes in, then the zone must not be entered. The only exemption is if the intended location is outside of the zone and there are no other routes in then you are permitted to enter the zone to get there. Please reply here if you have any queries, I have a copy of the Leicester County Council Order and will try to answer any questions.
