Gas Network Upgrade – Bishopbriggs

The following safety message has been circulated on behalf of SGN
I’m writing to you to make you aware of our upcoming project to upgrade our gas network in Bishopbriggs.

We know that during the coronavirus outbreak, our communities will rely on us now more than ever to keep them safe and warm. The safety of our communities and our employees will remain our number one priority in the weeks and months ahead.

Our safety-critical project to upgrade the gas network in Bishopbriggs needs to go ahead now, rather than wait until the pandemic passes, to ensure your local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.  We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance.

Our project will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption as detailed below:

Phase 1 – approx. 10 weeks
From Monday 5 April, we’ll be working in Kirkintilloch Road. As we progress along Kirkintilloch Road, we’ll install temporary two-way traffic lights, increasing to three-way as we reach each junction.
Once we reach the junctions of Cowden Drive and Park Road we’ll need to implement  road closures on both these roads, meaning there will be no access to and from Kirkintilloch Road. Local diversions will be in place.
NB. Kirkintilloch Road will remain open at all times.

As part of this project, we’ll also be working in the following areas, where most of our work will be carried on the footpaths:

Phase 1 – approx. 4 weeks
On Monday 5 April, we’ll begin working in Hilton Terrace, Hilton Park and Stirling Drive.

Phase 2 – approx. 12 weeks
From 26 April, we’ll be working in Balmuildy Road, Melville Gardens, The Rowans, Keir Drive, Glenburn Gardens and  Southesk Avenue.

Phase 3 – approx. 5 weeks
From 5 July, we’ll be working in South Crosshill Road, Boclair Crescent, Boclair Road and West Cleddens Road.

Our project will be carried out by our contractor Smart Utilities on our behalf.

We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call project manager on 07583 122 390 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or Customer Service on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.

We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
