Gas Network Upgrade in the Glenboig Area

Alert message sent 30/03/2021 19:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following information is being circulated on behalf of SGN

I’m writing to you to make you aware of our upcoming project to upgrade our gas network in Glenboig.

We know that during the coronavirus outbreak, our communities will rely on us now more than ever to keep them safe and warm. The safety of our communities and our employees will remain our number one priority in the weeks and months ahead. Our safety-critical project to upgrade the gas network needs to go ahead now, rather than wait until the pandemic passes, to ensure your local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply. We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance.

We have agreed with North Lanarkshire Council to carry out this necessary work during the lockdown to minimise disruption to the local community.

We’re looking to start work in Glenboig New Road on 8 April 2021, and our project will last approx 17 weeks. Our project will be carried out by our contractor Smart Utilities on our behalf.

On Monday 8 April, we’ll start work in Glenboig New Road between Mollinsburn Road and its junction with Main Street and Coatbridge Road. To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll install temporary three-way traffic lights at the junction of Glenboig New Road, Main Street and Coatbridge Road.

From Monday 26 April we’ll be closing Mollinsburn Road from Gain Road to Oakroyd Cottage, with local access to Shawlands only. This closure will be in place for approximately six weeks and diversion routes will be signposted.

Following the road closure in Mollinsburn Road, we’ll install temporary three-way traffic lights at the junction of Mollinsburn Road and Gain Road. These will be in place for approximately two weeks whilst we complete our works.

We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call project manager Thomas Hendry on 07583 122 390, during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or Customer Service on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.

We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.

Thank you in advance for your support.
