Alert message sent 26/01/2021 11:24:00

Information sent on behalf of Surrey Police

Dear Surrey Heath members.

You may recall from previous messages and social media adverts that the Surrey Police & Crime Commissioner setup a number of on-line ‘Policing Your Community Events’ which kicked off on Monday 18th Jan and which will run through until 4th Feb.

The events begin with a 30 minute presentation from Chief Constable Gavin Stephens, Police and Crime Commissioner David Munro and the local Borough Commander (DI Alick James for Surrey Heath in our case) followed by a live Q&A session where residents can ask questions about policing in their area.

The Surrey Heath ‘event’ took place on Monday 18th Jan and the recording has now been posted on YouTube (presentations and Q&A) if you missed it/would like to watch again;

Wed 3 Feb – Waverley Borough: 5.30pm – 6:30pm
Wed 3 Feb – Woking Borough: 7:00pm – 8:00pm
Thu 4 Feb – Reigate & Banstead Borough: 5:30pm – 6:30pm

by registering via the PCC's WWW site;

https://www.surrey-pcc.gov.uk/get-involved/policing-your-community-engagement-events/

(note that registration is free and you should not need to have any special App or software loaded on your PC/device to take part).

To give you a heads up as to the questions/comments raised at the Surrey Heath event I have reproduced the final question list as asked on the night;

Q: Can you explain how Surrey Police are enforcing the current Lockdown? There seems to be a lot of cars on the road and people around.

Q: When tedious work like reviewing CCTV needs to be done why not have trained volunteers - trusted members of the community to do this?

Q: Has there been any improvement in the number of calls you have to attend regards Metal Health problems ?

C: The road leading into Swinley Forest in Bagshot is suffering a huge amount of people violating the Covid rules we need a police presence.

Q: How many officers have suffered from CV-19? How many are off with long-term complications? Have any lost their lives to CV-19?

Q: What has the council tax increase from 2020 been spent on?

Q: How many full time police are on the streets for Surrey Heath ?

Q: Please can you share where these 100 extra police officers have been deployed ?

C: You mention paying more for local policing but I see no  visible police presence in our community of Frimley Green in the estates and crime is on the rise

Q: Is it possible that a recording of this event can be made available for people who were not able to view it live?

Q: How is Surrey going to control the never ending Traveller Incursions ?

Q: How do you measure a “safe” community?

Q: I have used the digital 101 and it works well. Will there be some comms coming out from the police to promote this new service after its recent 'soft launch' ?

Q: Has a Surrey Transit Site been identified?

C: A big thank you to PC Finnegan for being a very proactive support for the village of Bisley.

C: Thank you  - not just Bisley,  Windlesham also.

Q: Which police number should we call if vehicles are seen illegally driving on common land – 101 or 999?

Q: What is actually being done about the speeding and anti social driving in the borough that is endemic?

Q: What KPI's are there against your commitments to ensure that there is measured progress and these are more than just a vision ?

C: Burglary seems to be missing from the slide and more PCSO walking the communities will help glean intelligence, people want to feel secure in their own homes.

Q: As a cyclist, I wear a snood that I put in place when passing others (to stop Covid spread).  Cyclists and runners do not. Can the police do anything about this?

Q: Has there been a reduction in drug trafficking?

Q: Under your 5 year plan are Adults and Children with Learning Difficulty and Sensory impairments and unable to find employment (covered) ?

Q: Can you send me a copy of the transcript ? Thank you.

I hope that those of you who missed the event find the video and information given of interest.

Kind regards and please stay safe and well.
