S G N New gas connection - A96 - Riverside Road in Elgin

Alert message sent 16/11/2020 20:33:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following information is being circulated on behalf of SGN

I’m writing to you to make you aware of our upcoming project to install a new gas connection to a property at Riverside Road in Elgin which involves crossing the A96 at the east side of Elgin. We will be starting work on Wednesday 25 November for around one week.

In order to facilitate this new connection we will have to tie-in to a gas main which is under the A96. We are very conscious of how busy this major road is and because of this we aim to use a ground mole technique that will mean we will have a narrowing of lanes but will be able to avoid temporary traffic lights. If, however, we are unable to take this approach, we will have to use temporary traffic lights.

The job itself will take place just after the Reiket Lane roundabout (also known locally I believe as the KFC roundabout) and will take around two and a half days to complete with a further two days for reinstatement.

We realise this is a very busy road and wish to assure you that our work will progress as quickly as possible and we’ll be doing everything we can to limit delays and disruption.

We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our projects in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance.

We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.

Thank you in advance for your support.
