Crime Prevention Advice - Rural Vehicle Security

Now the seasons are changing Police Scotland are encouraging residents, both urban and rural, to make sure their homes, vehicles and businesses are prepared for the darker nights.
Although you may have heard this message before please do consider the points below and how you could prevent criminals impacting your home / business, for example -

- Make sure all external lights are working and cover as many buildings as possible
 
- Remove keys from all vehicles / consider CESAR marking scheme and the use of trackers
 
- Think where / how vehicles are parked to make it difficult for thieves to steal them
 
- Check that sheds, outbuildings and the entrances / exits to yards are secure
 
- If alarms are fitted to buildings and vehicles make sure they are working correctly
 
- Consider forensic property marking for valuable items, both domestic and work related
