I’m writing to you with an update on our project to upgrade our gas network in Main Street, Shotts.

Following government advice back in March, we needed to make changes to our ways of working to protect our colleagues and communities from the spread of coronavirus. As a result, we temporarily paused our network upgrade project in your community. As lockdown restrictions now begin to ease in Scotland, we’re looking to resume our work.

We will restart work in Main Street, Shotts on 7 September and our project will last approximately five weeks and be carried out over two phases. We will be completing the renewal of around 140m of metallic gas mains with new PE pipe and replacing any services as required.

In phase 1 - which will take two weeks - we will be open cutting from the junction just before Manse Road on Main Street. During this phase four-way traffic lights will be in place.

In phase 2 - which will take around three weeks - we will continue along main street to the junction with Torbothie Road. There will be three-way traffic lights in place during this phase.

We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all expert coronavirus guidance. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities while we work. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call 07773 545328 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or Customer Service on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.
