Good news in Acocks Green and Tyseley

Alert message sent 18/08/2020 21:06:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Citizen

If you are on social media may have seen a recent video clip shared on Yarnfield Road, Tyseley where a vehicle has tried to make off and the driver hid behind the car. What some clips fail to show is that the driver was arrested as he popped out from behind the car by PC Davis from Acocks Green NHT and the reason the other three had the nerve to walk back past was that PC Kay had already stopped them and took their details for follow up at a later date. The driver was arrested for fail to stop, dangerous drive, obstruct police and document offences. He was later released from custody pending CPS advice.

A similar incident on Monday 17th August where a vehicle thought better of waiting at temporary traffic lights on Yardley Road but drove straight towards PC Davis who attempted to stop the vehicle and with the assistance of members of the public managed to block the vehicle causing minor damage to the police vehicle. After a smashed driver's window and a struggle the driver was arrested for fail to stop, dangerous drive and resist arrest. He was later charged and remanded for all three offences and at court this morning received a community order and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

This clearly shows that Acocks Green NHT are willing to go the extra mile to prevent traffic offences in the area and we will continue to target those that are breaking the law.
