Firearms Discharge in Handsworth

Alert message sent 11/08/2020 16:01:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Citizen
We work closely with the community and local neighbourhood officers regularly patrol the area to offer reassurance and deter crime and anti-social behaviour.

In addition we have regular patrols by our gangs team, who often conduct plain clothes patrols, and last month we launched a new operation targeting violence and gun crime in parts of Birmingham, including Newtown.

It’s seen us carry out lots of warrants at addresses linked to gang activity and drug supply, numerous arrests and weapons seizures.

Since April we’ve taken 48 lethal firearms off the streets of the West Midlands − including 19 in Birmingham − and each one of those represents a potential life saved.

We’re really keen to further develop our relationships with members of the communities we serve and would welcome anyone who wants to get involved in local community work such as Street Watch to join forces with us and help play your part in improving the quality of lives for everyone.

Information from our communities is also vital. If you suspect anyone is linked to crime, drugs or firearms, please let us know by messaging us on Live Chat through our website or call 101.

Or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111; calls cannot be traced and you won’t be asked for your name.
