Street Watch

Alert message sent 01/08/2020 15:27:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good afternoon to all.

The Sutton Trinity Neighbourhood Team are currently working with the neighbourhood watch coordinator from Whitehouse Common Road in setting up a Street Watch Group in the area of Lindridge Road and Withy Hill Road.

We will be doing door to door enquiries at 18:00 on the evening of Monday of the 3rd August. During the door to door we will be discussing any issues that people are having in the area and offering crime prevention advice. Any body who wishes to join our street watch group will be able to sign up when we visit the street and further information will be provided.

In the mean time, here is some information about street watch.

Street Watch is a community led initiative.

Street Watch groups are made up of volunteers who are at least 18 years old. They carry out street patrols, but have no police powers.

The groups are managed by a coordinator, who is part of the group. Their job includes:

•keeping a volunteer list
•providing advice, guidance and support
•regularly speaking with the local policing team.

Groups patrol in a minimum group of two and register them on a forum.

The local policing team also look at the forum before the patrols take place, to know where the group is going.

If the group sees suspicious activity, they should report it to the policing team, but not get involved.

Hope to see you on Monday evening
