Theft of Catalytic Converters

Alert message sent 30/07/2020 15:40:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

Hi Everyone

Please see the attached guidance on protecting catalytic converters, if your vehicle has one!

They are attractive items to steal due to resale value and the precious metals inside them, which can be removed and sold on.

Although they are located underneath vehicles they can still be targetted by thieves with experience of removing them.

Simple changes in how you park your car could reduce to chances of a converter being taken but more robust deterrents could include cat cages, locks or welding the bolts to hinder removal.
