Eid Ul Adha

Alert message sent 30/07/2020 13:48:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Eid Ul Adha has been confirmed for Friday 31st July. I appreciate Covid-19 restrictions meant that Ramadan and Eid Ul Fitr earlier in the year was very different to how we are used to and I wanted to thank the community for the overall compliance towards this.  I also want to take this opportunity to send a reminder that Covid-19 restrictions are still in place and this leads me onto the evening of Thursday 30th July. I am aware the evening before Eid or what is sometimes referred to as ‘chaand raat’ is a time when families may come out to shop and eat. We support this as long as Covid guidelines are being adhered to. What we strongly discourage is some of the antisocial behaviour involving cars, revving of engines and blowing horns which impacts on local residents and I would therefore urge people to refrain from attending the Alum Rock Road  and surrounding area in cars with the sole intention of making noise and driving in an anti-social manner. There is a policing operation in place for the evening to deal with any issues. I wish all those celebrating on Hodge Hill Constituency Eid Mubarak and hope you are able to spend quality time with your families and loved ones.
