Street Watch

Alert message sent 22/07/2020 08:35:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Thanks to everybody who has signed up to WM Now over the last couple of weeks, I hope the service is coming in usefully.

As a way to progress and protect and serve our communities we would like to set up a Street Watch group on the Falcon Lodge estate, especially in the St Chad's Road area.

Street Watch is a community led initiative and groups are made up of volunteers who are at least 18 years old. They carry out street patrols, but have no police powers.

The groups are managed by a coordinator, who is part of the group. Their job includes:
•keeping a volunteer list
•providing advice, guidance and support
•regularly speaking with the local policing team.

Groups patrol in a minimum group of two and register them on a forum.

The local policing team also look at the forum before the patrols take place, to know where the group is going.

If the group sees suspicious activity, they should report it to the policing team, but not get involved.

If you want to take part in Stree tWatch, email us. In the email, make sure you include your:
•name
•postcode
•telephone number

I will set the group up and provide a training brief at Sutton Coldfield Police Station.

Thanks in advance from the Sutton trinity Neighbourhood Team.
