Burbage Police Weekly Update

Alert message sent 18/07/2020 15:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Hope you are all well. We are still doing well in regards to theft of motor vehicle and residential burglaries in Burbage. Please continue to stay vigilant as these types of crime have increased recently in other areas of Leicestershire following the reduction during Covid-19.

Theft from motor vehicle on Smithy Lane Burbage Common. Please ensure you do not leave personal items in your vehicle and ensure you lock your car and shut the windows. It may be tempting to leave them open during some of this hot weather we are getting but you never know who is about. Just think of the hassle and expense to replace items that could get taken. Also remember areas like parks, woods etc are unlikely to have CCTV and gives criminals a perfect environment to commit these types of crime.

Anti-social behaviour has been reported around Oak Close and Farm Road area. We have identified those involved and dealt with through the incremental approach where Leicestershire Police work with HBBC to tackle this type of behaviour. We complete actions such as Warning letters, home visits and education/advice. We hope that early intervention can prevent further issues from reoccurring.

We have received a couple of complaints regarding drone activity flying over residents gardens. This is around the area of Sketchley road and Hinckley road. We have located one owner and discussed local concerns. I am currently trying to speak with another. Please be aware of the guidelines around drones which can be found here http://dronesafe.uk/ . There are many drone enthusiast that are just engaging in their hobby which is the case in the majority of reports. We also understand that a drone flying over your back garden or property can cause concern around privacy and security. We always look to identify the person and to simply discuss concerns raised and verify there are no criminal reasons behind the activity.

If you wish to report speeding concerns on your street, please fill in a form which can be found here https://www.speedorsafety.com/community/ . The MVAS (Mobile Vehicle Activated Sign) box was on Wolvey Road for the last two weeks and we now have the results. If you would like these results please get in touch.

Thank you, Take care, Darren 6035
