Major gas replacement works in the West Main Street area of Armadale

Alert message sent 15/06/2020 11:38:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following information is being circulated on behalf of SGN

As we keep gas flowing to homes, hospitals and businesses, we’re as committed to protecting our colleagues and communities from the coronavirus now, as we were at the start of the outbreak.

Back in March, we needed to pause all but emergency and safety-critical work on our network but as lockdown restrictions begin to ease, we’re looking to restart some of our paused activities where it’s now safe to do so.

As part of our phased recovery, it’s important we restart our gas mains replacement programme. In keeping with Scottish Government guidance, from mid-June we plan to start by upgrading sections of our network that don’t involve us going into people’s homes or interrupting the gas supply.

On Monday the 15 June we will restart our project in the West Main Street area, Armadale and last for approximately ten days. Before we restart any activities, we will carry out extensive risk assessments to ensure we’re able to do the work while meeting all current coronavirus safety guidelines.

There is a requirement for temporary lights during this time.

Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. Typically, our work won’t involve entering homes or businesses at this stage unless it’s an emergency. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

I’m also writing to local stakeholders to make them aware of our project. Please feel free to share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our works.

If you have any specific enquiries about this project, please call us on 0800 912 1700 and our customer service team will be happy to help.

Thank you for your support during these challenging times and if there’s anything else you need please let me know.
