SGN – Gas Network Upgrade - Cumbernauld

The following message has been circulated on behalf of SGN
I’m writing to you to make you aware of our upcoming project to upgrade our gas network in Balloch Road, Cumbernauld.
This project involves us replacing our existing gas mains and services in the area with new plastic pipe.
Our essential work will ensure your community receives a continued and reliable gas supply for many years to come. We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance.
We shouldn’t need to interrupt gas supplies to homes or businesses, and our engineers won’t be calling at residents’ home.
We’re looking to start work on 15 June and our project will last approximately 15 weeks. We’ll be carrying out the work over two phases to help minimise disruption. Each phase is described below:
Phase 1 – approx. ten weeks
On Monday 15 June, we’ll start working in Balloch Road between the footbridge and Eastfield Road.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll be installing temporary two-way traffic lights on Balloch Road, increasing to three-way traffic lights as we reach each junction.
During this phase, the bus stop at Grampian Way will be temporarily suspended for approximately three weeks. The Carntoul Court bus stop will remain unaffected throughout the project.
Phase 2 – approx. five weeks
From Monday 24th August, we’ll continue to work in Balloch Road. During this phase, we’ll have to close Balloch Road from Balloch roundabout. Local diversions will be signposted.
Our project will be carried our by ourselves (SGN), However we have a contractor (UIC) who may be involved from time to time. Traffic Management will be carried out by Contraflow on our behalf.
We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus
We’re writing to some residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call project manager David Black on 07773 545 328 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or Customer Service on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.
