Catalytic Converter thefts

Alert message sent 20/05/2020 16:01:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear residents,

We have seen an increase in the theft of catalytic converters. Please can I ask you all to consider the following safety measures.

* Use a protection device or marking system.

* Install CCTV and ensure your vehicle is parked in a well-lit area.

* Park vehicles so as to prevent access underneath, if possible please park close to a fence, walls or a kerb to make the theft more difficult.

* If your catalytic converter is bolted on, you can ask for your local garage to weld the bolts to make it more difficult to remove.

* If you operate a fleet, consider obstructing access to vehicles with high ground clearance by parking lower vehicles close by.
If you see anyone acting suspicious, please contact us. In an emergency 999 or please use our non-emergency number 101 or our live web chat facility currently available between 8am and midnight at West-midlands.police.uk.
Please do not report crime on this system as it is not monitored 24/7.
Many Thanks, please keep safe
