VE Day Celebrations

Alert message sent 05/05/2020 19:24:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good evening all, hope you are well.

As you are probably aware, Friday the 8th of May 2020 will mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, signalling Victory in Europe in WW2.

This day is significant to our community and celebrations will be held throughout. We hope for our neighbourhoods to celebrate safely and sensibly with their families.

Those who have planned parties as a way to celebrate may find inspiration in the appreciation shown to our other heroes, the NHS. Clap for our careers in the ideal model to follow in order to celebrate, with front garden parties including small families a sensible option.

This would provide a way for us to show our respect to those who made sacrifices for us in the past, whilst also showing respect to those who are making sacrifices for us in the present. Sticking to social distancing guidelines is still a priority, yet as you have shown so far, a real sense of community spirit has made even stronger during the clap for our carer evenings.

Thank you for working together during such a challenging period of history, and please do enjoy VE Day is a typically calm and sensible community fashion.
