Information sent on behalf of Northamptonshire Neighbourhood Watch

To All Wellingborough District NHW and Neighbourhood Alert Members

Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is a grassroots charitable movement. It is the largest crime prevention voluntary movement in England and Wales and has upwards of 2.3 million members.

The Northants Association working across Northampton, Daventry, Wellingborough, Kettering and Corby, East and South Northants districts, aims are to prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime, improve safety, and encourage neighbourliness and a supportive spirit across our communities.

That means that whilst combating crime remains our core aim, we also help out in other important ways to help protect our communities, such as supporting the elderly and vulnerable.

We promote good citizenship and greater public awareness through Neighbourhood Watch groups; increase public participation in the prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour; reduce the fear of crime; improve police/community liaison, and increase public and community safety.

With the present Chair of the Wellingborough Area Support Team now retired, we have the following vacancy -

Chair – Wellingborough Area Support Team.
Key Responsibilities - chair the local support group, promote NHW with local District, and Parish Councils, Resident Groups, Community Groups

The person we are looking for will be a good communicator, PC Skills would be a benefit, but most importantly have a genuine interest in making their community a safer and stronger place. The Chair also sits on the County Exec. Committee.

Anyone interested should initially reply to this Alert.
