Lock down continues for a while yet

Alert message sent 29/04/2020 13:49:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Woking resident and NHW coordinator. There is a lot of hope that the government will soon be able to gradually lift the lock down restrictions. But nobody is expecting this to be a fast or easy process. Many of us who are elderly or who have known medical problems have already been told by the NHS that they should stay at home for up to 12 weeks more. This must be depressing for those concerned.

So it is important that we continue to help and support them, as well as the NHS and Care staff who remain under pressure (and risk). The elderly and infirm will still need help to get shopping and medicines. But it is not just friends and neighbours who can help. Woking’s community groups have responded very well and below is a list of websites and social media Groups for volunteers who are willing to help.
UK Neighbourhood Watch have also provided useful information. They have a page on their website that gives lots of useful advice, including tips on working from home. There is also advice for those who are forced to be housebound in a home where there is aggression or stress.

Please keep safe and well, and continue to smile and acknowledge your fellow “social exerciser” when you are out and about. Please continue to call/text/email your friends and neighbours.
