Police Monthly Newsletter and update

Alert message sent 27/04/2020 21:59:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Hello, Hope everyone is staying safe and keeping busy.

Please see attached this month’s newsletter.

This week has seen a couple of incidents including a theft of a catalytic converter from the Windsor street area. Vehicles that get targeted for these types of crime include Hybrid vehicles such as Honda Jazz and Toyota Prius amongst others due to the higher concentrations of precious metals. You can mark your Catalytic convertor so it can be recognised if recovered or some manufacturers have cages you can fit to make it harder to remove. The best advice though is to try and leave you vehicle in a well-lit area covered by CCTV. Try not to leave parked half and half on footpath as this makes it easier to lift the vehicle. Please see link for some really good advice, https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/advice/vehicle-crime/vehicle-crime/catalytic-converter-theft-prevention-advice

Burbage Parish Council had there Williams TT3017 trailer stolen overnight on the 22/04/2020. If you have any knowledge of this please contact Police with crime number 20*207192. It contained grass cuttings and branches which will probably have been fly tipped somewhere.

Vehicle registration plate theft. We have not had any reported in Burbage but have had issues elsewhere in Leicestershire. I have a limited supply of FREE anti-theft screws at the office so if you would like some please get in touch. If you are a victim of VRM theft please ensure you report this online or to 101 as this may link in with other crime in the area.

Please continue to report suspicious activity. Criminals may be on the lookout for easy targets such as items left on show in vehicles, keys left in doors, open windows, cash or jewellery lying about. Please also double check you have locked your vehicle doors. Although crime figures in Burbage are good please continue to be vigilant.

Stay safe, Darren.
