Information sent on behalf of South Yorkshire Police

Good Evening,

Please view the attached image which relates to burglary prevention tips.

1. Test your alarm with your provider and update emergency contacts and keyholder lists
2. Make sure your CCTV cameras are working and are well positioned and unobstructed
3. Change the combination on your safes
4. Ensure any entrances are well lit and interior security lighting is working
5. Protect accessible windows with locks, shutters, grills or bars
6. Roof openings such as skylights or ventilation should be secured and alarmed
7. Check around your premises for anything that burglars could use to climb up the building
8. Tills should be left open and empty to prevent unnecessary damage
9. Make sure your doors and doorframes aren't damaged and that they're solid and secured with suitable locks
10. Check those hinges - exposed door hinges need to have non-removable screws or pins.
