Burbage Beat Team Update

Alert message sent 08/04/2020 15:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Burbage Weekly update

Again, crime figures are very good this week. We have had a report of a car window being smashed in the Three Pots area. Nothing was reported as taken but please be mindful not to leave anything in your vehicle over night or in the day. Do not leave coats or empty bags on show as this may give criminals a reason to enter your vehicle. If you have a van please continue to remove tools when at home and ensure your van is locked during the day if you are working.

Anti-social behaviour

We have had a report of some potential knock and run incidents around the Far Lash area of Burbage. If you are aware of who is involved, please get in touch. These incidents have happened sporadically during the late evening over the last month. This can cause considerable alarm to residents. We are patrolling the area at relevant times to monitor the situation.

We are receiving many calls from the public in relation to possible breaches of the government guidelines around COVID-19. We are asking people to monitor the guidelines (see link) https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus. When we receive calls, if it appears (based on the information provided) guidelines have been breached we will attempt to complete a home visit and give words of advice to the residents in question.

We are trying to deal with this difficult time in a sensible and sensitive manner. Ultimately we are acting upon reports from the public and trying to keep people safe. We are also continuing to patrol public places to ensure we can all keep our social distancing and will challenge those who appear not to be abiding by the guidelines.

We do not want people to feel embarrassed or upset if they receive a visit. We ask that people use common sense and follow the guidelines to keep us all safe at this difficult time. Each of us will all have different worries and concerns at this time, from health concerns, financial issues, and childcare issues or worried about friends and family. Please continue to work together. There have been some fantastic examples of residents supporting each other already. Hopefully this will soon be a distant memory so let’s try and come out of it stronger.
