Alert message sent 06/03/2020 20:55:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Vehicle crime in Burbage

Please be aware of vehicle crime. We have suffered a recent attempt theft of a motor vehicle.
Targeted patrols are ongoing and we have seen a reduction of these crimes in recent weeks/months. With the help of residents we can continue to build a picture of the criminals and their activity which will hopefully reduce incidents going forward.

A few things can be done ongoing to reduce the risk of being a victim of vehicle crime.

*Please put your vehicle in the garage if you have one (Empty out the boxes :)
*Use light timers for your property as homes can get targeted if the criminals believe you are not about.
*Consider CCTV, outdoor lights or driveway bollards.
*Remember security at the back of your property. Remove bins from by gates, consider window alarms, cactus spikes for your fence, house alarms and close curtains at night so people can’t see in your property.
*Steering locks are a great visual deterrent and will slow down criminals so please use them if you have one.
*If you have two vehicles, park your more expensive vehicle behind the other vehicle.
