Appeal to find Good Samaritan after girl assaulted in Trowbridge park

Alert message sent 03/03/2020 10:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Wiltshire Police

We are trying to trace a Good Samaritan who intervened after a girl was assaulted in Trowbridge park yesterday (02/03/20).

It happened between 4.30pm and 5pm when a 12-year-old girl was walking out of the park, through the alleyway towards Magnet Kitchens on Polebarn Road.

She was assaulted by a group of three boys who were entering the park.

A male passer-by intervened and walked with the girl away from the scene to ensure she was safe.

She wasn't seriously injured but was left shaken by what happened.

Det Con Karen Haddrell, from Central CID, said: "We would like to hear from any witnesses who could assist our enquiries, particularly the boy or man who intervened and assisted the girl.

"Any incident which involves violence of this kind will understandably be concerning for the local community.

"However, I want to reassure you that this type of incident is rare and we will be putting on increased patrols in the town as a precautionary measure."

We are aware of reports of a group of boys being involved in anti-social behaviour in Trowbridge park over the weekend and we are carrying out detailed enquiries, including looking at CCTV.

If you can help please call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting crime reference 54200022014. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
