Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good Afternoon,

You may see that a lot of the work we do is around Op Guardian otherwise known as Project Guardian. If you don’t know much about what project guardian is or what its focuses are please read the below:

Project guardian was set up in April 2019 as the government announced extra funding for police forces to tackle violent crime amongst young people and knife crime issues.
Guardian is a two year project to tackle serious violence in the under 25s, with an emphasis on knife crime. The four strands of GUARDIAN are Suppression
Nationally the success of the project will be measured on these three criteria’s: A reduction in the hospital admissions for assaults with a knife or sharp object and especially among those victims aged under 25.
A reduction in knife enabled serious violence and especially among those victims aged under 25.
A reduction in all non-domestic homicides and especially among those victims aged under 25 involving knives.

Us as the Rurals neighbourhood team take part in various Guardian related tasks each day in with our daily tasks but the week of the 23rd of March 2020 is Op Septor week where we will be taking part in various activity’s focussing on the main key points above and we will be running different operations in the rural areas.

If you have any questions about Op Guardian or Op Septor week feel free to reply and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
