Romance Fraud Facebook live session
For any members who don’t follow our Facebook pages you won’t have seen our Romance Fraud Facebook live session on Valentine’s Day last Friday. You might have heard of stories about how someone has fallen in love with someone they’ve met online but it was all a con and they have lost thousands of pounds.
Well unfortunately these stories are true, and we’ve seen it in here in Cambridgeshire!
Helen and I, your Peterborough crime reduction officers went live on Facebook with three victims of romance fraud. You can watch this on the link copied below. You might think this will never happen to you or someone you know, but so did these ladies!
In Cambridgeshire last year (2019) there were 86 reports of Romance Fraud, with total losses to victims of £558,026. Nationally, last year more than £68million was lost to romance fraud in the UK. This happens to both men and women and the average age of victims is 50 years. Have a listen to find out more and then help spread the word to stop further victims.

We have also added some Date safe tips for anyone who is looking for love and entering the world of online dating.
