Loose horses near to the Lunt Estate

Alert message sent 06/01/2020 19:08:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Residents of Bilston,

Over the last month the Police have received 10 calls regarding horses running loose near to a strip of grass land by the Lunt estate, Bilston.

Most of the calls generated have been relating to the horses seen on the Black Country Route, Darlaston Lane and Queens Street. Officers have attended and on a number of occasions and herded the animals to a safe location.

I've patrolled the grassland and identified where the horses graze and noticed that some of them are tethered via chains and others were roaming freely.

On what I've see it's obvious the horses present a danger to themselves and the public. I've been unable to establish who are the owners of these animals, so I've made contact with Wolverhampton city council environmental health department.

The council have put an order on the grass land for the horses to no longer to be there. I was advised that if the horses are not removed by the owners, then they'll be removed to a safer location by bailiffs.

I was assured the horses will not be harmed.

If you have any information of who the owners might be please contact me via this messaging system.

Kind regards PCSO 31005 Gavin Chandler
