Swadlincote police appeal for witnesses after knife incident in local park

We are appealing for witnesses to come forward after it was alleged that a family were threatened by two young people carrying a knife.

The incident happened on Eureka Park, Newhall Road, Swadlincote at around 3.40pm, Saturday, 4 January.

PC John Anwar, from our Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team is investigating and explains: “ The group of family and friends say that they were sitting on a bench in the park near to the swings when they were approached and threatened by two boys who were passing a knife between the two of them.

“They were able to name the boys and we have interviewed two 14-year-old boys who live in Swadlincote.

“We think that there were other people present when the incident happened and we are asking for these people to come forward and tell us what they saw and heard so that we can get as full a picture as possible.”
