Moreton road safety consultation

Alert message sent 05/01/2020 11:44:00

Information sent on behalf of Gloucestershire Constabulary

Dear Moreton resident,

I am Police Sergeant in the Cotswolds and am one of the officers in the district Neighbourhood Policing Team. Part of my role as a neighbourhood policeman is to participate in community efforts to identify and address issues, relating to policing, that are of concern to residents in the district.

In Moreton-in-Marsh PC Nick Westmacott and I have been part of a project called Intensive Engagement in which we have been joined by partner agencies and residents.

Hopefully you will be aware that the town and district council have plans to further develop the Recreation Ground on London Road. In addition to Moreton Rangers and the current skate park an out-door gym and athletics track are to be built. We, the Intensive Engagement group, are keen that these plans are realised.

The group has heard of some concerns from residents relating safe access to the site, in particular around the use of the pedestrian crossing on the A44 near the skate park. The good news is that this is not a road that has a history of accidents involving injury but if more people are going to use the ‘rec’ we would like to make access as safe as possible. That in mind it would be great if you could contact me if you have had difficulty, or a ‘near miss’, while trying to use the crossing or while driving along this road.

The more evidence that we have from the community the stronger our case will be in trying to make safety improvements.

If you have observations on the above please contact Nick and I via the e-mail address below.

Thank you for your help.
