SOUTH CAMBRIDGESHIRE BURGLARY UPDATES


 We are appealing for any information relating to the burglaries below to assist our investigations team to catch more burglars.

Access gained via the rear door.
 
Crime Ref 35/86549/19 – Primrose Hill, Little Gransden
03/12/19
Patio doors smashed to gain access.
 

 Crime Ref 35/87372/19 – Rectory Rd, Duxford.
 06/12/19
 Front door has been forced open possibly with a crowbar.


Crime Ref 35/87401/19 – Rectory Rd, Duxford.
07/12/19
Back door panel forced open.


Crime Ref 35/87395/19 – New Rd, Sawston
06/12/19
Attempt made at first to open rear kitchen window. Front door was then forced open for entry.


Crime Ref  35/87498/19 86 – The Rowans, Milton
06/12/19
Entry gained via front door.


Crime Ref 35/86815/19 – Berrycroft, Willingham
04/12/19

Boarded up window damaged to gain entry.



Crime Ref 35/86868/19 – Parlour Close, Histon
04/12/19 
Access gained through first floor window using the flat roof of the property to get to the window.

Rear doors smashed.



VEHICLE CRIME


Milton has been had seven theft from vehicles in the last week suspects have caused damaged but once entered have found nothing of value on most occasions.
Willingham has had two crimes of theft from number plates
Duxford and Whittlesford have had two crimes of theft of catalytic convertors.
Across South Cambridgeshire we have had six reports of theft from van tool and power tool in particular being taken.
 
Please remove anything of value from your vehicles. Once empty leave glove boxes open to show nothing of value is inside the vehicle.
 


BUSINESS BURGLARIES – South Cambs


We have had an increase in business burglaries in the last week eight in total included in this is a butchers these kind of businesses are particularly vulnerable this time of year. Please look out for the businesses in your village and report any suspicious activity.

Anti-social behaviour review


Last week we received several calls for service from Morrisons, Cambourne. Some students for the village college have attended the store thrown items off the shelves, caused damage and been verbally abusive to staff. The Youths involved have been identified on CCTV and have been banned from the store.

Along with the weeks priorities the local policing team have also been dealing with the following around South Cambridgeshire:
Youth engagement with youth clubs/scouts

Policing surgeries for crime prevention.

Joint visits to sheltered housing talking about Scams & Cyber Crime.

Supporting our speedwatch teams by visiting persistent speeders.

Latest Cambs Police News Release
 
Police dog Tai retires
Police dog Tai has retired after eight years of dedicated duty. He has been an amazing police dog and has tracked and found hundreds of criminals and missing people.
He was well known in the Dog Unit for being an excellent track and search dog.
Tai and his handler received numerous commendations and awards together. These include pro-active policing and Joint Protective Services officer of the year award for their dedication to the unit.
They have also received commendations for:
- Entering a burning flat together with other officers to rescue a hostage and detain the offender
- Tracking to and containing an address after a murder and detaining and securing the offender
- Detaining men in a stolen car armed with firearms who rammed them and were desperate to get away
Tai has retired to live at home with his handler and family and put his paws up for a well-earned rest
