Prevention of vehicle thefts through the winter months

Alert message sent 08/11/2019 14:40:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Residents,

Each winter the Police receive reports of cars stolen from the driveways across our region because owners have have left their vehicle unattended, with the keys left in the ignition while they warm up, or de-frost their windscreens.

Some victims just pop inside the house for few seconds to collect something they've forgotten only to return and discover it takes just that few seconds for their car to be stolen.

I'm sure most people don't do this, however we all fall foul to time and pressure and can tempted to leave the car for just few moments.

Please bare in mind insurance companies might not pay if you lose your vehicle in this manner and if you're house keys are attached to the same fob/key ring your house and property become vulnerable.

Follow the this protocol make sure your car is safe.

Clean your windscreen with a de-icer and scraper and stay with your car while it de-mists the windscreen.

Kind regards PCSO 31005 Gavin Chandler Bilston North and East Neighbourhood Team
