Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Good Morning,
Welcome to new folk recently signed up,
Apologies, it’s been over a week since my last blog or tweet.
Message today is about Firearms and shotguns requiring destruction.
There are 3 enquiry offices throughout the Force, each of which have operational enquiry office desks for public access and each has a property store.
I have found that many people will have firearms stored in their cabinets that are no longer used, no longer worth selling, but if you were to take them into a Registered Firearms Dealer for destruction then you will be charged for that service.
Often this will put people off committing to this process.
Derbyshire Constabulary would rather those items be destroyed, if that is to be the end result.
To facilitate this, all you need to do is ring the below police station property stores, agree a date and time for you to attend with your firearm. Make sure the firearm has been made safe.
Attend with said firearm encased in a bag and sign the item over for destruction. You are not charged.
We would much rather this occurs than unnecessary and unsafe storage across the County. This is open to all persons living within Derbyshire.
If in doubt please ring the Firearms Licensing Department on 0300 122 8657 or email
