Dispersal Order for Tilehurst

Alert message sent 05/11/2019 14:22:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

“Yesterday afternoon (04/11) we have put a Dispersal Order in place for Tilehurst which covers the Bonfire Night period.

A Dispersal Order gives Police Officers the power to order a person or persons to leave an area immediately and not return for up to 48 hours if they believe they have committed or are likely to commit anti-social behaviour. Anyone told to leave an area by a Police Officer will be given a written notice explaining why they have been told to leave and the time period for which they cannot return to that area. They can be arrested if they return during that time period.

Officers will be patrolling Tilehurst during this period and enforcing this order if they find people acting in an anti-social manner.

Anti-social behaviour and the inappropriate use of fireworks will not be tolerated and those involved in this sort behaviour can expect to face criminal proceedings.”
