Remember Remember the 5th November

Alert message sent 05/11/2019 08:05:00

Information sent on behalf of Northamptonshire Police

Every year the emergency services are called out to deal with children and adults who have been injured by fireworks. Northamptonshire Police would like everyone to stop and think for a moment before handling fireworks.

Fireworks are explosives and even sparklers can reach temperatures 15 times hotter than boiling water and five times hotter than cooking oil. Both must be treated with care.

Please respect your neighbours and your own communities and be mindful of the effect that loud bangs have on animals. On Bonfire Night, 5th November, you can let off fireworks until midnight, otherwise you must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am.

You can be fined up to £5,000 and imprisoned for up to six months for selling or using fireworks illegally. You could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90. Never carry them in public.
