Robberies of delivery drivers

Alert message sent 09/10/2019 18:00:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good afternoon

We have been made aware of a series of robberies of delivery drivers around Tipton.
These incident have occurred in the last few days whereby delivery drives have had phones, money and other valuables stolen from their person and vehicle.
These incidents have been reported and are being fully investigated, but we also recommend considering the below security advice:
• Limit the amount of cash carried
• Take payment up front
• Be aware of their surroundings, don’t leave keys in vehicles
• Does the vehicle making the delivery need to be liveried? This may identify a potential victim
• Dash Cams are useful for monitoring driver behaviour in the event of an accident, but also may be useful with crime prevention or suspicious activity.
• Consider an approved vehicle tracker
For further advice for vehicle safety advise, please see the West Midlands Police Website.
We ask that drivers and fellow members of the community to remain vigilant.

As always, thank you for your support and take care
