Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good morning everyone. 20MPH zones are being introduced on streets near you. This is part of a scheme by Sandwell Council to make roads safer by reducing speed. 20mph zones are designed to slow traffic down and make our streets safer for everyone- especially children and older people. The 20mph speed limits will be targeted mainly on residential roads and where there are more pedestrians and cyclists, such as near schools and shops.20mph zones mean safer roads and encourage more physical activity such as walking and cycling.Studies have shown that pedestrians are more likely to be seriously injured or killed when hit by vehicles at higher speeds, especially vehicles travelling over 30mph.Have a good day and stay safe whilst walking, driving or cycling.PCSO Bagnall
