Former dairy farmer becomes PCSO for Heath Holmewood Grassmoor and Calow

Alert message sent 01/10/2019 14:01:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

A former dairy farmer has become the latest Police Community Support Officer to patrol the streets of Heath, Holmewood, Grassmoor and Calow.
Ellis Disney-Smith is the latest Police Community Support Officer to join the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Before becoming a PCSO, Ellis was busy managing a dairy farm, based not too far away in the Amber Valley, but was interested in a career in the police having spoken to officers in the Derbyshire Rural Crime Team.
Since joining the team, she has been busy getting out on patrol in the area, taking part in knife crime presentations and talks to school in the area, held a stand for shoppers at Tesco, and has met members of the local parish councils and housing associations.
She said: “It’s a new challenge for me, and I’m really enjoying it, especially the community and social aspect that being a Police Community Support Officer brings. If you do see me out and about please don’t hesitate to say hello or get in touch if you have any concerns that we could help with.”
“I hope to keep up the good relationships the team have built with community members and partnership agencies so that we can make sure our area stays safe, and to reduce anti-social behaviour.”
Outside of work PCSO Disney-Smith hopes to keep up her love of animals and the farm to some degree, but now more as a hobby.
